Insurance

For us to maintain our autonomy in your wellness therapy process, all Panoptic Wellness™ services are self-pay. There are two main reasons for this:

1. Insurance only covers "medically necessary" services; therefore, they can deny coverage for services if those "medically necessary" criteria are not met. This can arbitrarily limit our options in terms of regularity, areas addressed, etc.

2. To bill insurance requires a diagnosis, which follows a "medical model" of health, which focuses on disease and treatment; therefore, no diagnosis = no coverage. This runs counter to the underpinnings of wellness, where we focus on a strengths-based, positive perspective.

Other Important Information

  1. Services are currently offered to adults [Age 18+] in the state of Ohio.

  2. All Individual Wellness Services are offered by telehealth only currently. Community-based activities and educational presentations are offered on site at the location listed.

  3. All individual wellness services are therapy and are provided by a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and are protected by confidentiality and HIPAA. All Presentations, Activities, and workshop offerings are provided by an LPCC but may not protected by confidentiality or HIPAA, as they are non-therapeutic Services.

The No Surprises Act

According to the No Surprises Act, as of January 1, 2022, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” describing how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services. As we will not use insurance for these sessions, you will receive a "Good Faith Estimate" for our expected services and their associated costs. In most cases it is difficult to estimate how many sessions you will need until we complete our initial session. Also, the frequency and total number of sessions will also vary based on the progress that you make, which depends in part on your efforts. The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract between provider and client and does not obligate or require you to obtain any of the listed services. Even if you elect to begin services with me, you are free to discontinue services at any time or the services may otherwise be terminated in accordance with my Informed Consent form language.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask any health care provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
